Specialization vs . diversification of university technological knowledge across European regions

چکیده
This paper explores the regional patterns of university technological diversification/ specialization in Europe and its effects on the production of new university technologies measured as patents counts. Several econometric specifications reveal that both regional diversification of technology and specialization in high technology have positive and significant effects on the production of subsequent new technological outcomes.
